join us for studio i, a forum where high school students interact with local architects to learn about the profession of Architecture. Meeting one saturday a month, we introduce and design competitions, students gain insight into our career, network with area professionals, and begin building a portfolio in preparation for college. participation is open to all high school students and is FREE OF CHARGE. come see what studio i is all about as we hangout in the new United States green building council office and green resource center. Learn about how you can use studio i to get ahead of the game concerning architecture as we get to know each other.

Downtown design office tour
Visit the offices of some of birmingam’s most talented firms, and see how an office is set up. You will be rating the different offices based on layout, design, furniture, marketing material and much more, while also learning about the different styles of operation.

one man skybox charrette: competition no. 1
before a football game you will be designing and constructing stadium shelters out of cardboard. later that day during the football game you and other fans will see how the shelters enhance the viewing of the game, and a winner will be selected.
December 1

architectural products tour
there are many companies located in and around the downtown area that manufacture and sell products used in the construction of birmingham buildings and buildings across the country. we will visit these companies and get a behind the scenes look at the process.
January 5

light charrette: competition no. 2
have you ever had a great idea for a light? this is your chance to make that idea a reality. Teams will get together and design and build a light fixture out of cardboard. Your lights will be judged and a winner will be selected.
February 2

atlanta, georgia tech, high museum: FIELD TRIP
roll with us to atlanta to visit the architectural school at georgia tech and see their solar decathlon house. And we can’t go to Atlanta without visiting the renzo piano addition to the high museum.

join your studio i friends and other architects in celebrating your accomplishments. A presentation of your work and photographs of yoru experience will be given and you will be given a special surprise for your commitment to being a leader.

Eyebeam
partner with local architects and construction professionals to prepare a fun, interactive building project for children. eyebeam is a part of the imagination festival in conjunction with the onb magic city art connection. later in the month you can join the eybeam team and volunteer to help during the festival at linn park.
