This year was our largest attendance in 13 years.  The theme this year was Draw Your Green “Dream School”. There were 46 future architects who won awards for their creative design/artwork of their dreamSchool. 
The awards ceremony was held at Saw Works Studio/ ArchitectureWorks. The winner’s enjoyed their moment in the spotlight as Dick Pigford, AIA read each students description of their design and pointed out green features on the project. The following Saturday 10 3rd, 4th and 5th grade winners participated in a hand’s on workshop with Dick Pigford, AIA, Adrienne Retief, AIA and Emily Johnson, AIA. The children love the one on one with an architect in an architect’s office.
This program has grown and is receiving recognition in the educational system as an “inspiring educational program” that is much needed in the arts. We are concerned about the lack of funding for arts in the school systems. We are open to ideas, suggestions, volunteers on how AIA can assist schools that do not have an art curriculum.
